Another year has passed, which feels like something I should have had more say in, but apparently that’s not how this works. Time just keeps… happening. Relentlessly. Without checking in. Without a quick “hey, you good with this?” Nothing.

So now I’m older. Again

And I’m being told this is a moment for reflection. For growth. For gratitude. For “celebrating the journey.” Which is interesting, because from where I’m sitting, the journey mostly looks like me saying “I’ll deal with that later” over and over until “later” quietly becomes “oh no.”

But sure. Growth. Let’s call it that.

If I’m being honest, I’m not really in the mood to process my age starting with a "5" emotionally. That feels like a lot of work. And I have chosen, very intentionally, not to do that. Instead, I’m doing what any reasonable person would do in this situation: creating a distraction and pretending it’s a celebration.

Is that healthy?

I don’t know.

But it is effective.

Because if I make enough noise about a giveaway, then technically I’m not avoiding my feelings… I’m hosting an event.

Which is basically the same thing.

So yeah. It’s my birthday. I’m older. I have questions. I’m ignoring most of them. And instead of unpacking any of that, I’m giving something away.

This feels right.
